The 0 MW -5 MW capacity floating power plant uses various sources such as natural gas, solar energy, wind energy, and other renewable sources. They occupy a little space and can provide electricity to several places. They are also helpful during natural disasters like earthquakes and floods owing to their ability to provide a secure power supply. In March 2022, energy company Axpo built a 5-megawatt floating solar power plant in France. In July 2022, Energias de Portugal SA (EDP) commissioned the largest floating solar power plant in Europe, with a capacity of 5 MW and a battery storage capacity of 1 MW. These projects are expected to contribute to the growth of the segment.

 

The floating power plant market is categorized into two segments based on capacity and source. In terms of capacity, it is divided into 0MW- 5MW, 5.1 MW- 20 MW, 20 MW- 100 MW, 100.1 MW- 250 MW, and above 250 MW.
